Erika Petersen is currently completing her master’s degree in Instructional Design and Technology at the University of Tampa. Graduation expected for December 2019.

She received a bachelor’s degree in psychology at Universidade de Sao Paulo, in Brazil, in 1990. She completed a Specialization Course in Medical Psychology at Instituto do Coração de São Paulo. She worked in hospitals with patients and their families.

Her interest in education and learning theories made her earn a Certificate in Education Support while living in Australia. Online courses and the use of technology in the classroom are increasing in demand. At the University of Tampa, she has the opportunity to create a variety of instructions, from need analysis until the final product. She has acquired skills in the use of Infographics, Articulate Storyline, Camtasia, Powtoon.

Erika just finished working on the design of a graphic novel to teach abbreviations to adult English as a second language learner. She presented this project at the 2019 Open Education Conference in Phoenix, Arizona. It will also be presented at TESOL 2020, the International Convention & English Language Expo next March in Denver, Colorado.

She is also the co-author of Dr. Ensmann's article A Case study for the 10-Step approach to program evaluation (2019) with publication expected for next January in Tech Trends.

She is also participating in a project to create online training for supervisors in an Engineering company, using Articulate.

Erika Petersen lives in Tampa, Florida.
